Highgate substructure goes topside

While from below it appears that much of the heavy work has been done, with the steel superstructure now 100% complete, there has been a great deal going on up top of the SH1 crossing.

Precast concrete panels have been laid over the steel structure, expected to be complete by April. This will finish the substructure and allow the completion of the motorway corridor before winter.

Work on both approaches to the bridge has also progressed, with a number of concrete pours at the Milldale and Highgate ends of the crossing.
